Stables and field shelters are often located in fields some distance form any mains electrical power.

Checking horses before and after work often mean working in the dark, particuarly in the winter months.

Lights powered by solar panels  do not need any mains electric and can provide all the light that you need.

The chepest option is to go for something like a SolarMate Point 5   or Vortex Solar Shed Light , however, these do have limited run times and output particularly in mid winter when you need most light. Many customers get around this by purchasing 2 solar lights and using them alternate days.

A better  solution is to...

Despite the variable weather conditions in the UK, we still receive enough solar radiation from the sun to make practical use of solar energy regularly in our every day lives. Solar photovoltaic panels come in all shapes and sizes and can be applied to the benefit of us and the environment in many day to day situations.

Our rough guide below should hopefully inform and, who knows, maybe even inspire you to make better use of solar power yourself. It really does have many practical applications in everyday situations even if you are not an ecofreak!

By using solar chargers to give your device some life, you are reducing your carbon footprint as well as many other things such as making use of the abundant power of the sun.

With many of us carrying and using gadgets such as ‘phones, MP3 Players and such like on a daily basis, it was just a matter of time before the world started to look for alternative ways to charge up these devices whilst you are out and about without the use of a mains power supply because let’s face it, many people run out of battery at a crucial time.

These chargers seem to be an attractive choice to parents of teenage children who own devices such as...

Do you own a property, stable block or small building that you rent out?

Harnessing the power of the sun isn’t a new idea, as far back as 1447 Leonardo DaVinci predicted the use of solar energy. In just one hour more sunlight falls on the earth than the entire earth’s population uses in one year.

So it seems odd that limited finite resources, such as coal and oil, are being used so abundantly when an endless resource such as the sun is so underused. Every 1kw of solar PV will save 170 lbs of coal being used and prevent 300 lbs of CO2 from being released!

With this abundance of sunlight why aren’t we making better use of it? Well, as of yet the technology to maximise the sun’s power is still in...
